Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy focuses on helping people to be as independent as possible in activities that are meaningful and have a purpose in their daily lives. For children this is often play and school activities. Occupational Therapy uses these daily activities in treatment to help overcome physical, mental, emotional and social deficits. At Joyful Music and Pediatric Therapy, we use play through music, dance and creative expression to inspire children to grow and learn.

Occupational Therapy addresses:
  • Sensory Processing
  • Social Skills
  • Cognition
  • Gross and Fine Motor Development
  • Coordination
  • Emotional Regulation
  • Family Education/ Emotional Support
Occupational Therapy focuses on the strengths of each child to help them gain as much independence as possible resulting in a greater sense of self-esteem and self-confidence. JMPT provides individual OT, OT and Music Therapy co treatments and emphasizes a group approach  with the belief that musical play in a supportive environment with other children is inherently meaningful and best serves the purpose of helping children to be successful in their daily lives.

JMPT takes an innovative approach to OT services by using music as a medium for our treatment activities. We have state of the art sound equipment, a media room including a Wii, and a therapy gym with sensory equipment. OT and MT work intimately together with all of our clients to create the most rewarding experience possible for children and their families.
